How to Spot Vintage

Straight after my Preloved Chica show last Saturday with Confessions of a Refashionista , I went in search of vintage clothes. I didn’t really expect to find anything in Ipswich. I normally find Preloved Next, Per Una or if I’m lucky Phase Eight. Well imagine my surprise when the first charity shop I went to, Cancer Research in Lower Brook Street had a 1960's Polly Peck dress on a hanger just by the door way.

My full length dress, size 10 I think was put to Sheri’s 3 tips for spotting vintage

  1. Light or heavy fabric- this dress feels like silk
  2. Metal zip- long 22in metal zip running down the back of the dress
  3. The label – this is a Polly Peck dress by sybil zelker

I’m thinking this dress is from the 60s but I can’t be sure. It’s fully lined and doesn’t have washing instructions or a fabric description.

Any ideas, what do you think? Almost forgot to tell you that I paid just £1 - $1.40 for this lovely dress.
